United Centerless Grinding & Thread Rolling Acquires Allen Precision, Adding Swiss Turning Capabilities
United Centerless Grinding & Thread Rolling (United CGTR), a manufacturing facility based in East Hartford, Connecticut, has announced the acquisition of Swiss turning facility Allen Precision. This acquisition will expand United CGTR’s capabilities to better serve aerospace, medical, armament, and other industries. The combined company will operate under the United Centerless Grinding & Thread Rolling name.
United Centerless Grinding & Thread Rolling and Allen Precision have been working closely for more than 10 years to deliver complete parts to their respective customers. This acquisition enables the combined company to provide a comprehensive range of services, including sourcing materials, machining blanks, heat-treating, centerless grinding, thread rolling, and wire EDM.
“Many of our customers will benefit from being able to start from scratch with us when they need a part,” said NJ Goulet, President of United Centerless Grinding & Thread Rolling. “Now,instead of going to one shop for heat-treated blanks and another shop for finishing, our customers can rely on us as their one-stop shop.”
Allen Precision founder Thomas Pouliot will continue operating his facility from its Windsor Locks, Connecticut, location, where he has run the shop solo for 11 of the 21 years he’s been in business. United Centerless Grinding & Thread Rolling will transition an expert team member to join Pouliot and increase the shop’s Swiss turning capacity.
“I’ve always appreciated Tom’s passion for machining, his desire to own his work, and his commitment to making high-quality machined parts,” said Goulet. “He’s been in the manufacturing industry for over 35 years and built a thriving business on word-of-mouth references alone, which is incredibly impressive. He’s the best at what he does.”
Allen Precision’s equipment list consists of five topline Tsugami swiss screw machines with continuous feed and live tooling capabilities, and capacity for parts up to 32mm in diameter.
United Centerless Grinding & Thread Rolling is AS9100 and ISO certified, and is currently pursuing ITAR registration. The certifications will include the recently acquired Swiss turning services, ensuring that the combined company is up to date on all quality and export control standards.
